The device makes it easy to record conversations, while the app seamlessly transcribes them in real-time. 🎙️📲 Both are designed specifically for this purpose, but an unstable internet connection 🌐 might sometimes interfere, leading to the loss of conversations. This can be especially frustrating 😖 if you miss out on a valuable conversation. But don’t worry—we’ve got a solution: Introducing Local Sync! 💾
Local Sync saves your conversation snippets directly on your phone whenever it detects no internet connectivity. Once you're back online, and if the locally stored conversation is over 2 minutes long, you’ll have the option to sync those conversations with the server to create memories. 🧠 The server will automatically merge existing memories with new conversations recorded during connectivity issues if they occurred at the same time.
Sounds cool, right? 😄 Now, you don't have to worry about losing conversations because of unstable internet!
How to Use It? 🤔
Local Sync is currently an experimental feature, so full stability isn’t guaranteed, but you can try it out now! To enable it, head over to Settings > Developer Mode, and scroll down until you see the Experimental section. 🔍 Under this heading, you'll find the Local Sync option—just tick it ✅ and click Save. Now, whenever your device is connected but without internet, conversations will be saved locally. 💬📥 Once the conversations reach the 2-minute threshold, you can sync them by tapping on the option on home screen that says, "You have X minutes of conversations, sync now?" 🔄
When you click on the sync button, you’ll be taken to a page where syncing the local audio with our server begins. Remember, you need to have internet access this time! A cool animation will start, showcasing how awesome we are—just kidding… or maybe we actually are! 😄✨
Once the sync is complete, if our server detects any voices in the audio, it will create the memories for you. 🧠 A button will appear that redirects you to a page where you can view both the newly created and updated memories. 📖✨ The transcript from your local audio will be added to the updated memories, so if the summary doesn’t cover the points mentioned in the audio, you might need to summarize again.
For that specific reason, we’ve added a re-summarize button right beside the name of the updated memory! 🔄✏️
With Local Sync, you can now record and preserve your valuable conversations without the fear of losing them due to internet issues. 💪✨ So go ahead, explore the power of FRIEND V1, DevKit2 and the Omi App, and make the most of your conversations! If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to reach out—we’re here to help! Happy syncing! 🎉
