You can use Omi without any wearable. The app can capture audio directly from your phone or Mac microphone and still give you transcripts, summaries, memories and tasks.

Talk and record with no hardware

  • On iOS/Android, open the app and start a new recording (mic / record button at home screen).

  • Speak as you normally would; Omi transcribes in real time and creates a Conversation with summary and action items.

  • On Mac, use the desktop app to record meetings or calls using the Mac’s mic; the conversation appears in the same Conversations list as your wearable recordings.

Using Omi in calls, meetings and daily life

You can use Omi to capture your day in different ways, depending on the situation:

  • In-person meetings

    • Activate recording on your device (Omi, Omi Glass, or a third-party wearable) and wear it, or place it in the center of the table.

    • Or put your phone with the Omi app open and recording activated on the table in front of you.

  • Online meetings (Zoom, Meet, Teams, etc.)

    • You can record using your phone or device (Omi or third ones) in the room (the mic will pick up your speakers).

    • Or start recording directly from the Omi desktop app on your Mac while you’re in the call.

  • Phone calls

    • For regular phone calls, put the call on speakerphone and let Omi record from your phone or wearable so the audio is clearer.

Always follow local laws and get consent from participants where required before recording.
