Unboxing Omi
In the box you’ll typically find: the Omi device, a lanyard/necklace, a silicone case, a charging cable, and basic documentation.
First charge
Place the Omi device onto the proprietary Omi charger (like docking a smartwatch), then plug the charger into a standard USB power source (5V phone charger or computer).
Wait for the light-red / orange light to appear - that means it’s charging, and on a first charge this light can take a few seconds up to 2–3 minutes to show.
The exact time to reach a full charge depends on your battery level and power adapter
Pair Omi with the Omi app (iOS / Android)
Install the Omi app from the App Store or Google Play and sign in.
Turn on your Omi device by pressing it once.
If you see a light or feel a small buzz, it’s ready.
If nothing happens, place it on the charger first and wait for a light to appear.
Open the Omi app, tap Connect in the top-left corner, and follow the on-screen steps to link your device.
Keep the device close to your phone during pairing.
When pairing is successful, the device light will turn blue, meaning it’s connected to the Omi app and ready to use.
Update Omi firmware
Open the app and go to Settings → Device Settings → Update Firmware, then follow the steps on screen.
Keep your device charged and close to your phone until the update finishes.
If you need to do a manual update (for example, for troubleshooting or special cases like CV1 with a flashing cable), follow this detailed “Update Omi Firmware” guide in the Omi docs.
Lights, sounds and vibrations: what they mean
Your Omi device uses a single status light (and a small buzz when turning on) to show what it’s doing:
Red light: the device is turned on but not connected to the Omi app.
Light-red / orange light: the device is charging on the dock.
Blue light: the device is connected to the Omi AI app and ready to use.
If you don’t see any light:
Press the device once to try to wake it.
If nothing happens, place it on the charger and wait a bit for a light to appear.
If it still stays off after that, follow the troubleshooting steps or contact support.
