Omi won’t turn on
Try a normal power-on
Press the device once.
If you see a light or feel a small buzz, it’s on.
Charge it
If there’s no light at all, place Omi on its charger and connect the charger to a power adapter or laptop.
An orange/light-red light should appear when charging starts (it may take a few seconds up to 2–3 minutes on first charge).
Try a reset (stuck light or no response)
Follow the reset steps: press and hold the button and place the device on the charger until it resets, or let the battery fully discharge, then charge again.
If Omi still never powers on (no light, no buzz), contact Support.
Omi won’t charge
Make sure it’s actually turned on first
A red or blue light means the device is on.
Check dock and cable
Place Omi correctly on the official charger and plug the charger into a known-good USB adapter or laptop.
Look for the orange charging light; on a first charge, it may take up to 2–3 minutes to appear.
Try different power sources
Test another wall adapter or USB port.
If possible, test with another cable.
Inspect contacts
Check the device and charger contact areas for dust or debris and gently clean if needed.
If the orange light never appears and the device stays completely dead after many hours on the charger, reach out to Support.
Omi is on but won’t connect to the app
Check the light color
Red light = Omi is on but not connected to the Omi AI app.
Blue light = connected and ready.
Pair from inside the Omi app
Install and open the Omi AI app on your phone.
Tap Connect and follow the on-screen pairing steps.
When pairing succeeds, the device light should turn blue.
Restart and retry
Forget Omi in your Bluetooth settings
Turn Bluetooth off and on again on your phone.
Restart the phone and the Omi app, then repeat the pairing flow.
If the device always shows a red light and never connects even after these steps, contact Support.
Omi shows a light but isn’t recording / no Conversations appear
Confirm it’s connected, not just powered
The light must be blue (connected), not red. Red means it’s on but not linked to the app yet.
Use the correct tap-and-hold gesture
Once connected:
Speak and check to see if the live transcription is active on your Home Screen.
Tap and hold the device while you speak.
Release when you’re done.
Omi will then create a Conversation with transcript, summary and tasks after a short period of silence.
Give it time to finalize
Conversations are created after Omi detects you stopped talking; they don’t always appear instantly.
Check internet / Local Sync
If your phone was offline, enable Local Sync in Settings → Developer Mode → Experimental so recordings are saved locally and uploaded when you’re online again.
Check permissions and account
Make sure the Omi app has microphone permission on your phone.
Confirm you’re logged into the correct Omi account.
If you see a blue light, use tap-and-hold correctly, have a stable connection, and still never see new Conversations, contact Support with example times when you tried recording.
Recordings stop or cut off too early
Avoid force-closing the app
Don’t swipe-away / kill the Omi app while recording; this can stop streaming and prevent Conversations from being saved.
Keep your phone nearby
If the phone gets too far, Bluetooth can drop and Omi may stop sending audio, especially for streaming-only modes.
Check battery
If the device runs out of battery mid-conversation, the recording will stop. Make sure it’s sufficiently charged before long sessions.
If Conversations keep ending abruptly even with a charged device, stable connection and app in the foreground/background, please contact Support.
Light stuck on red or blue and device not responding
If the device sits on solid red or blue and doesn’t react when you press it:
Try the official reset sequence
Press and hold the button.
While holding, place Omi on the charger.
Hold for a few seconds, then release.
Repeat a few times until the device resets.
Let it fully discharge
If reset doesn’t help, let the battery drain completely until the light goes off.
Then charge it again for several hours and try to power it on normally.
If the light always stays stuck and the device never behaves normally again after reset + full discharge, contact Support, it may be a defective unit.
Omi won’t charge
Check that the device is on before charging
A red or blue light means it’s on.
Place it correctly on the charger
Place the device on the proprietary Omi charger and connect the charger to a USB power source.
Look for the orange charging light; on first charge it may take up to 2–3 minutes to appear.
Try another cable / power adapter
If there’s still no light, test with a different USB port, adapter, or cable.
Clean contacts / inspect the charger
Check for dust or debris on the charger and device contact area.
If Omi never shows a charging light and never warms up slightly while on the charger, contact Support.
Omi won’t connect to the app
Confirm the app
Make sure you’re using the official Omi AI app on iOS or Android.
Bluetooth on and close by
Turn Bluetooth on and keep Omi close to your phone.
Pair from inside the Omi app
Open the Omi AI app.
Tap the Connect button and follow the on-screen steps to pair your device over Bluetooth.
Check the light
A blue light on Omi means it’s connected to the app and ready.
Reset & retry
If it still doesn’t connect, use the reset method from the troubleshooting guide and then repeat the pairing flow.
Red / blue / other light stuck on
If your Omi device stays on a solid blue or red light and doesn’t respond:
Try a reset
Press and hold the button.
While holding, place the device on the charger.
You may need to repeat this a few times until it resets.
Let it fully discharge
If reset doesn’t work, let the device run until the battery drains and it powers off.
Then charge it again for several hours and test once more.
If the light is still stuck after these steps, contact Support.
Mic doesn’t seem to hear me
Test a short recording
With the device connected (blue light), tap and hold while speaking clearly for 20–30 seconds, then release.
Check the transcript
Open the new Conversation in the app and see if the transcript reflects what you said.
Speak closer and reduce noise
Wear Omi as recommended (front of chest, not covered by clothing).
Avoid very noisy environments when testing.
If transcripts are always empty or extremely garbled even in quiet conditions, share one or two example Conversations with Support.
