Omi DevKit overview
Omi DevKit is the upgraded version of the previous DevKit 1.
It keeps the same necklace form factor but adds:
8 GB onboard storage for standalone recording
Built-in speaker for audio feedback and notifications
A programmable button instead of a simple on/off switch
Standalone mode, so it can record without a phone connection
Even in standalone mode, you still need to connect Omi DevKit to the Omi app for transcription and processing.
First setup: assemble, power, pair
Omi DevKit is sold as an assembled developer kit, so no extra hardware assembly is required.
Make sure the device is charged (plug/place it on the charger or follow the included quick-start card)
Install and sign in to the Omi AI app on your phone.
With Omi DevKit powered on and near your phone, pair it via Bluetooth tapping Connect button in the Home screen of the Omi app.
Update Omi DevKit firmware
The recommended way to update Omi DevKit is using the app’s built-in OTA (Over-The-Air) updates:
Install the Omi app on your phone.
Pair your Omi DevKit via Bluetooth.
The app will notify you when a firmware update is available and guide you through the process.
For manual updates, you can:
Download a pre-built firmware file for Omi DevKit.
Or build firmware yourself using the official firmware compilation guide.
Connect Dev Kit to the Omi app
Once paired over Bluetooth, DevKit 2 works like any Omi device:
Recordings are processed by the Omi app into conversations, transcripts, summaries, tasks and memories.
In standalone mode, DevKit 2 can record on its own, but you still need to connect it to the Omi app so those recordings can be uploaded, transcribed and turned into memories and tasks.
