“Omi DevKit” refers to Omi’s developer kit, based on the DevKit1/DevKit2 hardware described in the docs here and here.
DevKit not recognized by the app
Confirm firmware & app setup
Install the Omi AI app on your phone.
Ensure the DevKit is running compatible firmware, as described in the DevKit docs.
Pair via Bluetooth from inside the app
Open the Omi app and follow the normal device pairing flow; DevKits connect like standard Omi devices.
Check power & indicators
Make sure the DevKit is powered, battery or USB connected, and any status LEDs show it is on.
If the DevKit never appears in the app, verify the firmware guide for your specific DevKit and contact Support.
Errors updating firmware
There are two main firmware paths: via the Omi app (recommended), and manual flashing over USB.
App-based update first
With the DevKit paired and charged, open Omi → Settings → Device Settings → Update Firmware and apply updates.
If the app update fails repeatedly
Follow the manual DevKit firmware flashing guide (USB-C cable, reset button, UF2 files, etc.) in the docs.
After flashing
Restart the Omi app and re-pair the DevKit if needed.
If you see repeated firmware errors even after following the official steps, share screenshots and your firmware version with Support.
Sensor / mic issues on the DevKit
Test with a short recording
Pair the DevKit with the Omi app and record a short conversation.
Check the transcript in the app.
Check wiring / assembly (DIY builds)
If you built the DevKit yourself, verify microphone and sensor wiring using the build guide.
Update firmware
Make sure you’re on the latest DevKit firmware.
If inputs are still dead or extremely noisy, share photos of your hardware and example Conversations with Support.
