Basic steps to try first
Before you reach out to Support, quickly check:
Power & lights (Omi device)
Press the device once.
If you see a light or feel a small buzz, it’s on and ready.
If nothing happens, place it on the charger and wait for the light to appear.
Light color on the Omi device
Red: Device is on but not connected to the Omi app.
Orange / light red: Charging.
Blue: Connected to the Omi app and ready.
App & account
Make sure you’re using the Omi AI app from the App Store or Google Play.
Confirm you’re signed in with the same account on all devices (phone, desktop).
Bluetooth & connection
Turn Bluetooth off and on on your phone.
Go to Bluetooth settings and forget Omi device.
Open the Omi app, tap the connect button and check if your device shows as connected (blue light on the device means it’s linked).
Quick test conversation
With the device connected, speak for 15–30 seconds.
Check if the live transcription appears on the Home screen.
Omi waits for silence and then turns that into a Conversation with transcript and summary after a short timeout.
Omi may take a few minutes to process and display your recorded conversations. Please wait a moment.
Internet & sync
Make sure your phone has a stable connection (Wi-Fi or data).
If you recorded while offline, Omi can sync later using Local Sync when the phone is back online.
Update firmware (Omi / Omi DevKit / Omi Glass)
Open the Omi app → go to Settings → Device Settings → Update Firmware and apply any available updates.
For critical updates, you will see a popup requesting immediate installation.
Restart things
Restart the Omi app.
Restart your phone.
Turn the device off (or let it fully power down) and turn it on again.
For stubborn Omi device issues, follow the Omi Device Troubleshooting Guide reset steps.
FAQ – quick answers
“Are my conversations lost if they don’t show up immediately?”
Usually no. Omi creates Conversations after you speak, detect silence, and the app finalizes the recording; with Local Sync, recordings can also show up later once the phone comes back online and syncs.
“Do I need Omi hardware?”
You can use Omi on your phone and desktop, or connect with Omi devices (Omi, Omi Glasses, Omi DevKit) and third-party wearables. For the best experience, we recommend using Omi devices, as they were specifically designed for this purpose
“When should I contact Support?”
After you’ve tried the checklist above and:The device still won’t turn on or charge.
Conversations never appear, even after test recordings.
The app keeps crashing or can’t be used at all.
Firmware updates fail.
